Sri Krishna Delivers The Sons of Kurvera
As Krsna crawled around the courtyard, he saw the twin Arjuna trees. He remembered the blessing of his devotee Narada Muni and decided to show favour to the sons of Kuvera.
Krsna spoke to Himself, “Although these two young men are the sons of the very rich Kuvera and I have nothing to do with them, Devarṣi Nārada is My very dear and affectionate devotee, and therefore because he wanted Me to come face to face with them, I must do so for their deliverance.“
Speaking in this way Krsna crossed the two Yamala-Arjuna Trees. The grinding mortar that was tied to him, crossed sideways and got stuck between the trees. Krsna pulled the grinding mortar with great force and that force caused the two trees to come crashing down. From the trees came out the two effulgent personalities, Nalakūvara and Manigriva. They then began glorifying Lord Krsna.
Krsna still tied to the grind mortar spoke to the demigods. The great saint Nārada Muni is very merciful. By his curse, he showed the greatest favour to both of you, who were mad after material opulence and who had thus become blind. Although you fell from the higher planet Svargaloka and became trees, you were most favoured by him. I knew of all these incidents from the very beginning.
Nalakūvara and Manigriva, now you may both return home. Since you desire to be always absorbed in My devotional service, your desire to develop love and affection for Me will be fulfilled, and now you will never fall from that platform. The Supreme Personality of Godhead after having spoken to the two demigods, they circumambulated the Lord, who was bound to the wooden mortar, and offered obeisances to Him. After taking the permission of Lord Kṛṣṇa, they returned to their respective homes.
Meanwhile, the cowherd men, headed by Nanda Baba heard the sound of the falling trees and rushed over to the courtyard. Nanda Baba found his Lala sitting down tied to the grinding mortar and the huge trees on the ground.
He inquired, “Who has done this? Who bound my Krsna to the grind Mortar? Just then Krsna’s friends all came out of their hiding places. They all began to talk at once, shouting Mother Yaśodā, Mother Yaśodā had bound Him. We are witness. We saw with our very own eyes. Mother Yaśodā had bound him.
While some of his friends spoke to Nanda Baba, others tried to untie the ropes. But they were unable to release Krsna from the ropes, bound by Mother Yaśodā.
Nanda Baba then came forward and untied Krsna from the grinding mortar. When Mother Yaśodā came and wanted to take Krsna in her arms. Krsna would not go to his mother. Nanda Baba then convinced his son to go back to his mother and Krsna runs to mother and she again offers her breast milk to her son.
