How Prahlada Maharaj learnt about devotional service
After failing to kill his son, Hiranyakashipu handed him back to the Sanda and Amarka to continue to teaching him. He instructed them to properly teach the art of economic development and the ways of palace lifestyle.
When Prahlada was taken back to the school, he would not engage in any activities that his classmates would engage in. When the teachers were away, they used to call him to play with them, he would lecture them into the science of devotional service. He explained to them that devotional service to Lord Krsna, Visnu, should start at childhood.
The human form of life is a rarely achieved and we should take full advantage of it. Although it temporary, still the human form of life can help us develop devotional service to Krsna. Sri Prahlad told his friends that just a slight endeavour in devotional service can lead to the highest perfection.
Lord Krsna’s devotees further explained to them that senses gratification can be achieved in any form of life and there don’t have to be any extra endeavour to for it. but devotional service is only achieved in this human form of life.
Sri Prahlada gave a them deep philosophical understand about the temporary nature of the material world and eternity of the devotional service to Krsna.
His classmates inquired from him how he managed to know all this since; they had never had any teachers other than Sanda and Amarka. Then Prahlada told them the story.
When his father had went up to Mandardcala Mountain to perform his Austerities, the demigods, headed by Lord Indra saw that as an opportunity to attack the demon race. With great fighting spirit they became conquering the demons, who was without a leader. The demon fearing for their lives selfishly left their homes, along with their wives and children and fled. The demigods seeing victory attacked the main palace and captured the Queen.
At the time of my mother been dragged away by Lord Indra, the great sgae Narada Muni appeared on the scene. He requested Indra to immediately release my mother. Indra challenge the sage saying that within the womb is child-demon. He would keep the Queen at his palace and when the child is born, he would kill me and release my mother. The Great sage, Narada Muni retorted that my mother was sinless and that within her womb was a great devotee.
King Indra knew that the words of Narada could not be wrong so he released my mother to the care of Narada Muni.
After Narada had taken my mother his asrama, she served him very dearly. In return Narada Muni instructed her all the transcendental knowledge freeing her from material contamination. Although I was covered by the embryo, I still heard the instruction given to his mother.
Narada Muni took Kayadhu to his asrama under his protection until her husband returned. He had also given her a benediction that she will only give birth to the child when her husband returns. Staying at the asrama of Narada Muni, Kayadhu was fearless and she prayed for the safety of her baby. She desired that she only give birth until her husband returned from his severe austerities. While she stayed at the asrama, she served the sage with great devotion and faith.
Prahlada continued to encourage his friend by asking them to have faith in his words and engage in devotional service to the Supreme Lord Visnu.
